Top Two DCL Teams Fall Sunday

Sister Bay and Egg Harbor both lost in Door County League action Sunday allowing Washington Island and West Jacksonport to gain ground.  Here is the week ten recap:

Washington Island rallied to win at Sister Bay, 8-6.  Down 6-1, the Islanders scored three times in the fifth then tied the game and took the lead for good in the top of the ninth.  Ben Geiger’s two run single tied the game at six and Mitch Schreiber hit a two-run homer to put Washington Island on top.  Ben and Luke Geiger, Matt Foss and Troy Jorgenson all had two hits.  Jorgenson picked up the win in relief and Schreiber earned the save.  Tom Sawyer had two hits in the loss, which went to Bubba Laughlin.

Kolberg upset Egg Harbor, 6-2.  Austin Dart’s two-run homer in the first gave the Braves a lead they would not give up.  Dart, Hunter Pawelski, Derik LeCaptain and Max Bordeau all had two hits.  Ernie Erickson pitched the first eight innings for the win.  Nick Posh and Nick Kita with two hits for Egg Harbor.  Kita took the loss.

Maplewood beat Baileys Harbor, 4-2.  Trailing 2-0, the Mets took the lead in the sixth on a three-run homer by Kordell Draves.  Nick Brauer went the distance for the win.  Nolan Wagner, Austin Rohe and Derek Niedzwiecki all had two hits for Baileys Harbor.  Daniel Case took the loss.

West Jacksonport won under the lights at Institute Saturday night, 16-7.  The Ports led 8-2 after the fourth inning as they pounded out a dozen hits.  Drew Tanck and David Van Dreese each had three hits while Griffen Cole and Sawyer Johnson had two.  Tanck pitched the first seven innings for the win.  Matt Galivan, Kyle Volkmann and Matt Petersilka all had two hits for the Cubs.  Josh Paul took the loss.
