Luxemburg-Casco beat Sturgeon Bay 3-0 in a WIAA Division 2 regional semi-final baseball game in Luxemburg on Wednesday. Spartans coach Terry Jorgenson said before the game that he was “taking a gamble” in starting Jake Thyes on the mound, but the freshman responded with six shutout innings before Danny Dorner pitched a scoreless 7th inning. L-C scored single runs in the 3rd and 5th innings on RBI singles from Caleb Willems that scored Cole Kirchman. Will Simonar drove in Logan Joniaux with an RBI single in the 6th. Willems finished with 3 hits and Thyes added 2 to lead the Spartans. Matthew Van Bramer (2 hits) and Keith Lehmann threw out runners at the plate for the Clippers. Luxemburg-Casco will play at top seeded Denmark on Friday. The Vikings beat Roncalli 7-1.
