Sister Bay remained perfect in the Door County League and they kept Baileys Harbor winless. Maplewood surprised West Jacksonport setting up a four-way tie for second. Here’s Sunday’s results and recaps:
Maplewood rallied to beat West Jacksonport, 12-9. The Mets scored seven runs in the fifth to tie the game and then they used a four run eighth to pick up the win. Alan Karas had four hits to lead Maplewood (2-3). Mickey Le had two hits and drove in three runs. Kyle Ploor (1-1) pitched the first seven for the win and Karas got the final six outs for his first save of the season. Mike Stoneman and Nick Johnson each had three hits for West Jacksonport (3-2). Woody Schartner (0-2) was the third pitcher used by the Ports and he took the loss.
Sister Bay shutout Baileys Harbor, 6-0. Tucker Emerson had three hits including a two-run single in the second which put Sister Bay (5-0) ahead for good. Stuart and James Larsen both hit solo homers for Sister Bay. Wil Henricksen (1-0) went the first seven for the win. Brett Anschutz (0-3) took the loss for Baileys Harbor (0-5).
Egg Harbor won at Washington Island, 6-2. Egg Harbor (3-2) snapped a 2-2 tie with four runs in the ninth. Dave Jilot and Matt Ash each had three hits for the Indians. Joe Sawyer, Jason Fuller and Riley Spetz all added a pair of hits. Jilot (2-1) went all nine for the win. Washington Island (1-4) used a solo homer by Dave Heath to take a 2-1 lead in the fourth. Ray McDonald and Troy Jorgenson each had two hits. Jorgenson (1-3) took the loss.
Institute doubled up Kolberg, 10-5. Institute (3-2) snapped a 5-5 tie with a run in the eighth. The Cubs added four insurance runs in the ninth. Cody Giesseman had three hits in the win while Matt Petersilka, Danny Allen, John Heimbecher and Josh Paul all added two. Kyle Volkman (2-2) went the distance for the win. Austin Rohe had two of the three hits for Kolberg (3-2). Rohe (0-1) took the loss in relief.
