Sister Bay Hands Kolberg Their First Loss

Sister Bay beat Kolberg Sunday, 11-10.  Tom Sawyer tripled with one out in the tenth inning and after two intentional walks, he scored the game winning run on a wild pitch.  Sawyer had three hits for Sister Bay (4-2) while Stuart Larsen, John Woerfel and Dusty Johnson all added two.  Justin Hartel (1-0) threw two and two-thirds innings of relief for the win.  Trailing 10-3, Kolberg (4-1) rallied and tied the game with three runs in the eighth.  Jeff Sperber had three hits, including a two-run homer and a grand slam.  He drove in seven runs.  Eric Lardinois also had three hits for the Braves.  Sperber took the mound with one out in the fourth and went the rest of the way.  Sperber (1-1) was saddled with the loss.

Egg Harbor beat West Jacksonport, 6-1.  Jake Junion doubled in two runs in the third to give Egg Harbor (5-1) a lead they would not relinquish.  Riley Spetz and Joe Sawyer each had two hits for the Indians.  Dave Jilot (3-1) went the first seven for the win.  West Jacksonport (3-3) committed six errors in the contest.  Woody Schartner (2-2) pitched into the eighth and took the loss.

Washington Island had a huge third inning and beat Maplewood, 14-7.  The Islanders (4-2) scored 13 runs on 11 hits in the third.  Aaron Delorit had four hits including a grand slam in the third inning.  Dave Heath also homered for Washington Island.  He and Troy Jorgenson each had three hits.  Jorgenson (4-1) went the first seven for the win.  Mark Villers and Allan Karas each had three hits and Jordan Olson and John Price homered for Maplewood (1-5).  Kyle Ploor (0-2) started for the Mets but was relieved in the third.

Friday Night:
