Algoma slipped past Amherst 51-50 in overtime in a WIAA Girls Sectional Semi-Final at Seymour on Thursday Night. Down 50-49 with 9.8 seconds to play, Meg Ryan took a pass from Anna Dier, dribbled from 3/4 court to the base line and dished to a wide open Kennedy Blahnik for the game winner. Amherst missed a half court shot as time expired. The Wolves actually took a game high eight point lead with 2:23 to play in regulation but never scored again as the Falcons forced overtime. Facing a two point deficit in the extra session, Algoma turned a Karissa Koss steal into a Meg Ryan three pointer with 1:37 to play before the teams traded baskets in the final moments. Ryan finished with a season high 15 points to lead Algoma while Blahnik added 10 for the Wolves. Jaimee Pitt scored 15 and Ashley Pionkowski added 13 for the Falcons (20-5). The defending State Champion Wolves will play Auburndale (16-10) at Waupaca on Saturday Night at 7:00. Our coverage begins with the Jorns Chevrolet of Kewaunee pregame show on 93.0FM / wdor.com
