The teams are set for the championship in the Nor-Door Athletic Baseball Tournament after the games this weekend.
In the game at Egg Harbor, Sister Bay took a 2-1 lead in the second inning but Egg Harbor got 3 runs in the 4th inning and never trailed again. Al Byrne went the first 6 innings for the win with Nick Kita earning the save. Chase Lindem took the loss, going 4 and 1/3 with relief from Sam Forkert. Nick Posh had 2 hits for Egg Harbor, Griff Cole had a double and 2 singles to lead Sister Bay.
West Jacksonport tied the game with 4 runs in the 9th inning and won it in the tenth, when 2 batters were hit by pitches, then after an out– the walk off winning run scored on an infield error. Drew Tanck had 3 hits and Alec Schartner 2 to lead West Jacksonport. Tyler Kroll had 2 hits for Kolberg, including a bases loaded triple in the 5th inning.
In the game at Washington Island, the Islanders had a big second inning, scoring 7 times, and rolled to a 19-8 win over Institute. Alex Johnson got the win, going 5 innings with relief from Ben Johnson and Ryan Jorgenson. The losing pitcher was Josh Paul who went 4 with relief from Robbie Pollman. The Islanders were led by Matt Foss with 3 hits and 2 RBI, then the Johnsons, Alex and Ben, with 2 hits and Matt Petersilka also had 2 hits. Jon Baudhuin, Caleb Malvitz and Jacob Pflieger had 2 hits each for Institute.
Maplewood beat Baileys Harbor, 12-7, as Zach Marchant led the Mets with 3 hits while Nick Brauer (2 RBI) Adam Gutschow (3 RBI) Kordell Draves and Jaden Diller all had 2 each.
Next week the Nor-Door Athletics Baseball Tournament moves into the playoff stage with the top 4 teams playing Sunday afternoon. It will be Kolberg at Egg Harbor and West Jacksonport will play Sister Bay at Baileys Harbor. The winners advance to the championshp game the following Sunday afternoon (August 23rd).
