The Sevastopol girls basketball team rallied from a 20 point second half deficit and beat NEW Lutheran in overtime, 48-42, in Green Bay on Friday. The Pioneers trailed 27-10 at the half, and were down 33-13 when a Kayla Ranly three pointer with 12:09 to play that sparked a 19-0 rally. Sevastopol eventually tied the game at 35-35 but the Blazers took the lead on two free throws from Ingrid Beaumont with :56 seconds to play. Following a timeout, the Pioneers had a baseline inbounds that led to Addison Schauske being fouled with :14 seconds to play and she calmly made both free throws that sent the game to overtime. Braelyn Staats and Kayla Ranly hit back to back three pointers in OT as the Pioneers escaped with the win. Ranly finished with 19, Naomi Rikkola 10 and Staats scored 7 in her varsity debut.
Saturday
Southern Door hit nine three pointers in the first half as they cruised past Algoma, 85-46, on Saturday. Drew Daoust finished with 31 points while Lauden Berg added 14 and Caden Pierre 13 in the win. Tyler Neinas, Nick Beck and James Fish combined to make 8 3’s in the win for the Eagles. Parker Lischka scored 16 of his 18 in the first half for the Wolves.
