One Unbeaten Left In The DCL

Sister Bay remains unbeaten in the Door County League after three weeks.  Egg Harbor suffered their first loss of the season Sunday at Maplewood as the Mets won their first game of the season.  West Jacksonport and Kolberg also won.

Sister Bay beat Institute, 7-2.  Winning pitcher Sam Forkert (3-0) took a no-hitter into the seventh.  The bid was ended when Hunter Kallin led off with a bunt single.  Sister Bay (3-0) pitchers recorded 19 strike outs (Forkert with 14 and Wil Henriksen with five in the final two innings).  Stuart Larsen had three hits including a home run.  Matt Hecht added two hits for Sister Bay, including a two-run homer and John Woerfel also went deep.  The bunt single was the Cubs only hit.  Kyle Volkman (0-2) pitched the first six innings and took the loss for Institute (1-2).

Maplewood rallied from an early four run deficit to beat Egg Harbor, 9-8.  The Mets (1-2) scored seven times in the bottom of the sixth to take a 7-4 lead.  A Matt Ash grand slam put Egg Harbor (2-1) back in front by one, but Maplewood scored twice in the bottom of the eighth on a single by Chad LaLuzerne.  LaLuzerne finished with four hits, including a home run and he drove in five runs.  Mickey Le also homered for Maplewood.  Calvin Falk (1-2) went the distance for the win.  Riley Spetz and Joe Sawyer each had two hits for Egg Harbor.  Robbie Schartner (1-1) took the loss in relief.

Kolberg won a one-sided affair as they beat Baileys Harbor, 12-1.  Cam Schroeder had four hits in five trips to the plate to lead the Braves (2-1).  Eric Lardinois,  Bob Tenor, Chris Wery and Derrick Ray all had two hits for Kolberg.  Joesph Omilinsky (2-1) pitched all nine for the win.  Brett Anschutz homered and had two of the three hits for Baileys Harbor (0-3).  Aaron Geitner (0-1) pitched the first seven and took the loss.

West Jacksonport beat Washington Island, 7-1.  The Ports (2-1) scored twice in the first and never looked back.  Mike Stoneman had three hits and scored four runs.  Woody Schartner had two hits and drove in five runs.  Eric Bley, Ryan Tanck and Cody Leist also had a pair of hits for West Jacksonport.  Winning pitcher Tanner Biwer (2-0) struck out 15 in nine innings.  Troy Jorgenson (1-1) took the loss as Washington Island (1-2) only had three hits.
