McHugh in Olympic Team Trials this Weekend

Max McHugh will swim at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Indianapolis this weekend as he looks to qualify for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics. The Heat races are on Saturday, where McHugh is seeded 12th in the Men’s 100 Breaststroke with a time 1:00.49 seconds. His Dad, Mike McHugh, on what Max is capable of in the event….

The top two seeded swimmers in the event are Nic Fink from New York at 58.36 and Indiana’s Josh Matheny at 59.20 and also Michael Andrew who was fourth at the Tokyo Olympics is seeded 5th. We also asked Mike what the training has been like for Max leading up to the Olympic Trials….

Max still holds two WIAA Division 2 State Records, won four NCAA National Championships while at the University of Minnesota and is now a part-time assistant coach for the University of St.Thomas in Saint Paul. His Dad, Mike, on where he is at just days before Max swims in Indianapolis…

For the first time ever, the event will be staged on a football field, as Lucas Oil Stadium the Olympic qualifying meet over nine days. The 100 Breaststroke Heat races and semi-finals are Saturday with the Finals on Sunday.
