Lauren Kita and Anthony Laughlin, both 8th graders at Gibraltar Middle School, competed at the state level of the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship in Wisconsin Rapids on March 17th. They both finished as State Runner-Up. Lauren made 19 out of 25 free throws while competing against 8 other 8th grade girls, one shot behind the winner. Anthony made 20 out of 25 free throws while competing against 6 other 8th grade boys, one shot behind the winner. To advance to the state competition, they both won their Council Level at Gibraltar Middle School, District Level at St Mary’s School in Algoma, and Regional Level at West DePere High School. Lauren shot 12 (out of 15) at Council level, 22 at District Level, and 21 at Regional Level. Anthony shot 13 (out of 15) at Council level, 23 at District Level, and 22 at Regional Level.
