Kewaunee (11-1) will take on Lancaster (12-0) in a Division 5 state semifinal Friday night at 7 at Brookfield Central. Lancaster advanced in the WIAA football playoffs by beating Racine Saint Catherine’s Saturday afternoon, 21-0. This will be the second meeting in the state semifinals between the two teams and the fourth postseason meeting since 2000. Back in 2002, Lancaster beat Kewaunee in a Division 4 state semifinal, 35-34. Kewaunee fullback Sean Vanness was stopped at the one on a two-point conversion try in overtime. Lancaster beat Kewaunee, 49-20 in the 2001 Division 4 state championship game. Lancaster also beat Kewaunee, 21-14 in the 2006 Division 5 state championship game.
