Kewaunee To Play Lancaster In Semifinals

Kewaunee (11-1) will take on Lancaster (12-0) in a Division 5 state semifinal Friday night at 7 at Brookfield Central.  Lancaster advanced in the WIAA football playoffs by beating Racine Saint Catherine’s Saturday afternoon, 21-0.  This will be the second meeting in the state semifinals between the two teams and the fourth postseason meeting since 2000.  Back in 2002, Lancaster beat Kewaunee in a Division 4 state semifinal, 35-34.  Kewaunee fullback Sean Vanness was stopped at the one on a two-point conversion try in overtime.  Lancaster beat Kewaunee, 49-20 in the 2001 Division 4 state championship game.  Lancaster also beat Kewaunee, 21-14 in the 2006 Division 5 state championship game.

The Division 5 state semifinal game between Kewaunee and Lancaster will be heard on 93.9 FM WDOR and wdor.com.  Coverage Friday evening begins with the Jorns Chevrolet of Kewaunee Coaches Corner Show at 6:40.  Kickoff from Brookfield Central is at 7.
