Roncalli beat Southern Door 3-2 in 10 innings in a WIAA Division 2 baseball regional on Tuesday. After the teams played 7 scoreless innings, the Jets scored twice in the 8th inning on a suicide squeeze and throwing error but the Eagles were able to score twice with two outs to tie the game. First a Derek Niedzwicki RBI double scored Austin Rohe to make it 2-1 and Nolan Wagner added an RBI single to tie the game. Roncalli scored the deciding run in the top of the 10th inning when Jared Patek drove in Tyler Heyduk. Brett Bahrs pitched 8.1 innings and struck out 15 with Patek getting the win in relief. Niedzwicki had 5 hits to lead Southern Door while Wagner added 2 hits. Mitchel Neubauer went the first 7 innings and allowed only one hit. Roncalli will play at Denmark on Wednesday.
Sturgeon Bay rallied past Valders 3-2 at Memorial Field. After falling behind 2-1, the Clippers tied the game in the bottom of the 6th innings on a Casey Giesseman home run. Keith Lehmann followed with a double and Sturgeon Bay took the lead for good on an Austin Lardinois RBI single. Riley Cordier went the distance for the win while Giesseman, Justin Krause (RBI) and Ryan Jackson all had 2 hits.
