First State Championship For Wolves

Algoma defeated Wausau Newman Catholic 5 – 4 on Saturday morning, becoming the WIAA Division 4 State Softball Champions.

Algoma had 5 runs, 9 hits, and 2 errors and 6 left on base as Wausau Newman Catholic had 4 runs, 5 hits, 1 error and 3 left on base.

Jordan Demmin was the winning pitcher, pitched 4 innings allowing 2 runs on 5 hits, struck out 3, no walks. Tanika Jorgenson pitched the rest of the game, 2 runs allowed, no hits, struck out 2 and no walks.

Meg Ryan went 3 for 4, 2 RBIs, Tanika Jorgenson got the save, went 2 for 3, driving in the winning run. Baleigh Delorit had a 2 run single that tied the game in the 5th. Carmen Haack started the 4 run rally with a single in the 5th, and Taylor Schmidt had a bunt single as part of that rally as well.
