The first and second place teams in the Door County Baseball League met Sunday and Sister Bay remained perfect in 2014 as they beat West Jacksonport. Also in week eight, Kolberg won the Southern door matchup as they beat Maplweood and Washington Island snapped their losing streak with a home win over Institute.
Sister Bay beat West Jacksonport, 3-2. Sister Bay (8-0) snapped a 2-2 tie with a run in the sixth. James Larsen reached on an error, stole second and scored on a Tucker Emerson hit. Larsen had two hits to lead Sister Bay. Sam Forkert relieved Wil Henricksen after five innings. Forkert (5-0) picked up the win. Tanner Biwer and Nick Johnson each had two hits for West Jacksonport (5-3). Biwer (5-1) took the loss.
Kolberg beat Maplweood, 10-2. Jeff Sperber’s three-run homer in the first gave Kolberg (5-3) a lead they would not relinquish. Sperber finished with four hits. Bob Tenor hit a grand slam in the eighth and Travis LeRoy and Jesse Miller each had two hits for the Braves. Joseph Omilinsky (5-2) went the first seven for the win. Maplewood (4-4) could only muster two hits off of Omilinsky and two relievers. Calvin Falk (3-3) took the loss.
Washington Island beat Institute, 10-0. Washington Island (2-6) sent 11 batters to the plate in a six run seventh inning. Ray McDonald had three hits including two doubles. Caleb Cornell had three hits and drove in three runs and Troy Jorgenson added two hits. Jorgenson (2-5) tossed a complete game three hit shutout. Kyle Volkmann (3-4) took the loss for Institute (4-4).

Egg Harbor snapped a 3-3 tie with four runs in the top of the ninth as they beat Baileys Harbor Friday night in Door County League baseball, 7-4. Joe Sawyer’s two-run double was the big hit in the ninth for Egg Harbor, who tied the game at three with a run in the sixth. Sawyer and Brian Crook had three hits to lead Egg Harbor (4-4) and Aaron LaCrosse added two hits. Dave Jilot (3-2) picked up the win in relief of Rob Schartner. Amedee Savard had two hits for Baileys Harbor (0-8). Brett Anschutz (0-6) took the loss.
