Egg Harbor and Sister Bay are both undefeated after two weeks of the Door county League season while four teams are 1-1 and Baileys Harbor and Maplewood remain winless.
West Jacksonport edged Kolberg, 2-1. With the game tied at one, Ryan Tanck sparked West Jacksonport (1-1) with a two out, eighth inning single and following a Woody Schartner single, Tanck came around to score on a hit by Jason Lindemann. Tanck had three of West Jacksonport’s seven hits and Eric Bley added two. Tanner Biwer (1-0) went all nine for the win. Joesph Omilinsky (1-1) took the loss for Kolberg (1-1).
Egg Harbor beat Institute, 6-5. Dave Jilot drove in Jake Junion with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to snap a 5-5 tie and give Egg Harbor (2-0) the win. Jake Junion had three hits to lead the Indians. Eric DeJardine and Joe Sawyer each added two. Robbie Schartner (1-0) pitched the final two innings for the win. Cody Giesseman had a solid day at the plate for Institute (1-1). He had three hits including a pair of homers. Matt Petersilka and Kyle Volkmann each added two hits for the Cubs. Volkmann (0-1) took the loss.
Washington Island blanked Baileys Harbor, 7-0. Troy Jorgenson (1-0) tossed a five hit shutout for Washington Island (1-1). The Islanders scored four times in the first. Con McDonald and Craig Gunnlaugsson both homered in the win. Gunnlaugsson had two hits. Griffin Cole had two hits to lead Baileys Harbor (0-2). Brett Anchutz (0-1) pitched the first seven and took the loss.
Sister Bay beat Maplewood, 11-2. Sam Forkert (2-0) pitched into the ninth for the win. Forkert, Stuart Larsen and Tom Sawyer all had two hits for Sister Bay (2-0). One of Sawyer’s two hits was a solo homer. John Price homered in the loss. Price and Calvin Falk each had two hits for Maplewood (0-2). Falk (0-2) allowed five runs in eight innings and took the loss.
