First place finishes by Hunter Pawelski, Jacob Englebert and Colin Schubert helped lead the Southern Door wrestling team to a third place finish at the Dirk Sorenson Door County Classic in Sturgeon Bay on Saturday.
Pawelski pinned Steven Cygan of Green Bay Preble/East to win the 113 pound weight class, Englebert took the 132 pound weight class with a tech fall over Jason Romitti of Preble/East and Schubert pinned Jacob Dahlke of Shiocton for the 138 pound championship.
Nolan Wagner lost the championship match at 152 to Brad Mueller of Gillett/Suring.
Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol finished in 9th place. At 145, the Clippers Cody Stephenson won an 8-4 decision over Southern Door’s Eric Pawelski.
Cole Nebel finished in second place, losing a major decision to Chris Yauch of Two Rivers at 120 and Kolt Knutson won the third place match at 106 with a pin over Isaac Vosters of Menasha. Noah Giese and Casey Rosenthal both finished in 5th place for the Clippers.
