Eagles Cruise in League Opener

Southern Door opened the Packerland Conference baseball season with a 16-3 win over Algoma at Perry Field on Thursday.  The Eagles broke a 1-1 tie with six runs in the top of the 4th inning and put the game well out of reach with a eight run 7th inning.  Kordell Draves finished with 4 hits (2 doubles) and 6 RBI’s and Beau Schartner added 3 hits and 3 RBI’s in the win while Derik LeCaptain, Zack Marchant and Trevor Hawkey all had two hits for the Eagles.  Tory Jandrin went the first five innings for the win with Hawkey pitching the final two in relief. Booker Prokash and Alex Dellis led the Wolves with two hits each and Prokash drove in two runs.  The game was played with temperatures in the mid 30’s and wind chills in the mid 20’s in Algoma.

The Gibraltar girls team track team was at the Neenah Indoor Invite on Thursday.  The Vikings top individual finisher was Aleah Bauldry in the 200 (3rd) and 55 meter dash (6th).  The 160 meter relay team comprised of Chloe Massad, Hannah Helm, Brielle Fitzgerald, and Bauldry also finished in 2nd place.
