Rob Schartner improves to 11-1

Egg Harbor clinched at least a share of the league title by beating Institute 10-1 Sunday. The Indians scored 6 in the first inning & never looked back. Matt Ash & Cory Fuller each had 4 hits to lead the way. Eric Dejardine & Ash homered for Egg Harbor. Institute’s lone run came on a Scott Babcock home run.

Kolberg kept it’s title hopes alive by coming from behind to beat West Jacksonport 9-6. The Ports led 5-2 into the 6th, but Kolberg scored 6 in the frame to take command. Travis Leroy had 2 hits, 3 runs scored & 3 stolen bases on the day. The only home run was a 3 run shot for Cole Biwer in the 4th for West Jacksonport.

Sister Bay clinched at least 3rd place & a playoff berth with a 10-3 win over Maplewood. The Bays scored 6 in the 5th & 4 in the 6th to pull away from the Mets. Dusty Johnson had a grand slam for Sister Bay, & Justin Hartel & James Larsen added solo shots. Adam Schubert had 3 hits in the losing effort including a home run.

Washington Island needed late inning heroics to beat Baileys Harbor 4-3. Jack Rose singled, then advanced to 3rd on a two out error, & scored the winning run on a wild pitch. Nobody for the Island had more than 1 hit. Baileys Harbor was led by Nick Kita with 3 hits. Pat Larsen & Joe Christianson hit homers for Baileys, but it wasn’t enough.
