It took almost a decade for Southern Door’s Erik Cordier to make his major league debut. But after appearing in seven September games with the San Francisco Giants, Cordier has been able to stay with the team through the playoffs and will be in Kansas City as the Giants and Royals open the World Series tonight. The 28 year old righthander tell us his role for the Giants…
After his September call up, Cordier pitched a total of 6 innings for the Giants- allowing 4 runs (only 1 earned) in 5 innings with 9 strikeouts and 2 walks and compiled a 1.50 ERA. Cordier said he feels fortunate to be heading to the World Series….
Ironically, Cordier was drafted in the 2nd round by the Kansas City Royals in 2004. First pitch of Game 1 is scheduled for 7:07 tonight.
