Clippers, Vikings Win Regional

Sturgeon Bay won their first baseball regional title since 2013 with a 5-0 win at Valders on Wednesday. The Clippers (20-7) shutout the Vikings at Jake Schneider (5IP) and Isaac Berkley (2IP) combined on a three hit shutout. Sturgeon Bay scored in the first inning when Schneider drove in Andrew Carbajal with an RBI single and then added three more in the 4th as Anthony Jennerjohn, Carbajal and Ryan Jacobson drove in runs. Jacobson finished with 3 hits (double) while Carbajal and Mitchell Jackson had two hits each. Sturgeon Bay will play Winnebago Lutheran Academy at Random Lake in a WIAA Division 3 sectional semi-final on Tuesday at 12:30.

Gibraltar/Washington Island won their second regional in as many years after an 11-3 win at Crivitz. Alex Laughlin (3 RBI) and Luke Steebs had two hits each, Brandon Stillman doubled and drove in 3 runs while Griffin Reinhardt and Dominic Krauel scored two runs each. Eric Hoyerman and Luke Steebs combined to pitch the win. Gibraltar/Washington Island will play Niagara at Crivitz in a WIAA Division 4 sectional semi-final game at 1:30 on Tuesday.
