Northern Door scored 4 runs in the top of the 4th inning on their way to a 5-2 win over Sturgeon Bay in a Fox River Valley East Divsion American Legion baseball game at Memorial Field on Tuesday Night. The Chiefs (3-1, 2-0) took the lead in the opening inning as Cody Giesseman drove in Tanner Biwer. Rustom Engineer drove in two runs with a single in the 4th, another run scored on an error and Drew Tanck added an RBI groundout as Northern Door opened a 5-0 lead. Sturgeon Bay (4-4, 1-2) would scored 2 runs in the 5th as Jason Lindemann and Casey Giesseman had RBI’s before Cawley Hubner’s sliding catch in shallow leftfield ended the threat as the Bays left the bases loaded. Matt Hecht pitched a complete game with 8 strikeouts for the win while Biwer, Giesseman and Jack Brennan all had 2 hits. Chase Mickey started and took the loss for the Bays while David Van Dreese pitched four scoreless innings and Riley Schartner singled and doubled.
