This will be the Brewers first opening day without Prince Fielder at first base since 2005. Fielder signed a free agent deal with the Detroit Tigers this off-season.
The Brewers had three key signings this off-season. They added third baseman, Aramis Ramirez, shortstop Alex Gonzalez and outfielder Norichika Aoki.
Former Brewers catcher Mike Matheny is in his first season as the Cardinals manager. Matheny replaced Tony LaRussa, who retired during the off-season. Matheny won his first game Wednesday night as Saint Louis won at Miami.
