The Algoma girls finished 3rd at the WIAA Division3 Track and Field Meet at Princeton on Friday. Three time state champion Kennedy Blahnik won both the shot put (45-00.25) and discus (168-05) to lead the Wolves. Rachel Feuerstein won the Pole Vault (9-09) and Shante Williams won the triple jump (36-11.00) as Algoma totaled 63 points, five behind team champion Lourdes Academy. Sevastopol’s Joe Bruno won the 1600 race in 4:34.52.
At the Division 2 Sectional in Freedom, Luxemburg-Casco’s Maggie Liebeck won Sectional gold in the shot put, while Southern Door’s Cal McCarty and Anthony Anderson qualified in two events. The State Meet is Friday and Saturday, June 6-7, at Veterans Memorial Stadium in La Crosse.
