The Sturgeon Bay 15 year old All-Star team went (2-0) on Saturday while the 13’s and 14’s went (1-1) on the opening day of the State Babe Ruth Tournament.

Sturgeon Bay rallied to beat Middleton 9-8 in Sauk City on Saturday. With the bases loaded and two out in the bottom of the 7th, Austin Lardinois hit a 2-run walkoff double for the win. It was the only time that Sturgeon Bay led in the game. Lardinois finished 4X5 with 2 doubles and 3 runs scored while Bubba Laughlin had 2 hits and 2 RBI’s and pitched a complete game for the win. Every starter had a base hit in the win.
Earlier in the day, Sturgeon Bay beat Mineral Point 16-1 in 5 innings. Alex Ploor pitched the final 3 innings for the win. Elliot Weder went 3X3, Laughlin 2X2, Montana Gunnlauggson doubled with 3 RBI’s and four runs scored, Ryan Jackson had 3 RBI’s and Jared Lindeman drove in a pair. Sturgeon Bay will play either Stevens Point or Marinette on Sunday at 1:30.

Sturgeon Bay had to rally twice to beat Reedsburg in Eau Claire on Saturday. Sturgeon Bay scored twice in the 7th to force extra innings when Nick LeCaptain stole home and came from 4 runs down in the 8th for the win. After Isaiah Spetz tied the game with a 2-run single, Jacob Moeller provided the game winning hit past a drawn in infield. Jeffrey Alberts got the win in relief while he and Casey Weddig had 3 hits and Spetz, Connor Brennan and Colin Mirkes all had two hits. Sturgeon Bay would lose to Janesville 10-0 in the second game of the game and continue double elimination play on Sunday at Simon Park.

Sturgeon Bay used a 13 run 5th inning to surge past Stevens Point in their opening game in Janesville. Jared Van Bramer struck out 7 in 5 innings and added 2 hits. Derik LeCaptain finished for the save and added 3 hits in the win. Hayden Shefchik and Nick McCarty also had 2 hits in the win. Sturgeon Bay lost to Bay Port 15-7 in their second game. Van Bramer had 3 hits while McCarty and Michael Rose had 2 each.
