Area Teams Shine at WSICT

The Southern Door and Sturgeon Bay 5th grade boys basketball teams participated in the Wisconsin State Invitational Championship Tournament at Kimberly and Menasha on April 14 – 15.  The tournament brought together 75 of the top community based teams from Wisconsin.

Southern Door

The Eagles won their first five games before losing the championship game to Roncalli 49-36.  Southern Door beat Wrightstown (61-12), G-E-T (59-16), Little Chute (40-33), Sturgeon Bay (42-23) and Freedom (49-31).  Derik LeCaptain and Kyle Daoust were named to the All Tournament Team.

Sturgeon Bay

The Clippers finished in 5th place.  They beat Lodi (40-15), Winneconne (41-40) and Peshtigo (36-29).  They lost to Xavier (38-28), Southern Door (42-23) and Ripon (30-28).  Sturgeon Bay finished in 6th place and Mitchell Jackson was named to the All Tournament Team.

6th Grade

Sturgeon Bay competed in the 6th grade Tournament in the Green Bay area the same weekend.  The Clippers beat Black River Falls (36-20), Prairie du Chein (45-28) and G-E-T (42-32) and lost to Altoona (32-30), Jefferson (45-43) and Wittenberg-Birnamwood (41-36).  Sturgeon Bay finished in 11th and Jared Van Bramer was named to the All Tournament Team.
