Area Athletes On The College Gridiron

Matt Curtin

Gibraltar’s Tom Sawyer helped Ripon College beat Lake Forest College, 29-24.  The sophomore QB had two carries for 19 yards.  Sawyer was 0 for 3 on pass attempts and did toss an interception.

Sturgeon Bay’s Matt Curtin caught one pass for 35 yards to help Michigan Tech beat Lake Erie College, 41-10.  The junior WR also had two carries for 13 yards.

Southern Door’s Michael Blizel did a little of everything in the University of Wisconsin – Stout’s win over Jamestown College.  At QB, the junior was 1 for 4 for 10 yards and he was intercepted once.  Blizel also caught a pass for nine yards.  Blizel punted five times for 181 yards, an average of 36.2 yards.  He had a long of 50 yards.

Aaron Ash

Southern Door’s Aaron Ash, a sophomore WR, caught one pass for eight yards in Lakeland College’s 38-0 loss to Carthage College.

Luxemburg-Casco’s Joe Mleziva, a sophomore free safety, recorded seven tackles as the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point lost to the University of Wisconsin – Platteville, 26-3.

Luxemburg-Casco’s Nick Lloyd, a junior LB, recorded three tackles as the University of Minnesota – Duluth beat Upper Iowa University, 49-22.
