Algoma’s Blahnik A Finalist For WIAA Award

Algoma’s Kennedy Blahnik is one of 32 finalists for the WIAA’s 2014 Scholar Athlete Award.  The 32 scholar athlete finalists were chosen from among 825 seniors nominated by more than 425 high schools throughout the state.  Sixteen senior girls and sixteen senior boys are selected from each of four divisions.  The selections are based on both athletic and academic achievement.

Blahnik, who is Algoma’s first WIAA Scholar Athlete, is a three-time state champion in both the discus and shot put and she was a member of the Algoma girl’s basketball team which won a 2013 state title and finished as the runner-up in 2011 and 2014.  Blahnik is a finalist in Division 4.

McKenna Larsen of Oconto Falls is a finalist in Division 2.
