Algoma wins, tied for 1st in O/P Small

Algoma beat Hilbert 28-21 on Friday Night at Perry Field in Algoma, moving into a tie for first in the Olympian/Packerland Small.  Algoma scored the game winner with a 1:37 to play when Taylor Daul scored on 3rd and goal from the 24 yard line.  Wolves coach Wade Vanderves on what proved to be the winning touchdown….

Zach Blahnik rushed for three touchdowns, had a touchdown saving tackle on the kickoff following Daul’s td, then pressured Hilbert quarterback Mitch Gruett on 4th down with :35 seconds to play.  Coach Vandervest….

Heading into the regular season finale, Algoma is in position to win a share of the Olympian/Packerland Small Conference title.  The Wolves, Hilbert and Manitowoc Lutheran are all (5-1) in league play.

Austin Shaffer, Bryse Shaffer and Hunter Hemauer had td’s for Hilbert.
