The Algoma softball team needed extra innings to advance to their first ever WIAA Division 4 State Title game. After the Wolves and Shell Lake played 7 scoreless innings, Algoma put together a 5 run top of the 8th inning on their way to a 5-1 win on Friday afternoon at Goodman Diamond in Madison. Jordan Demmin, who pitched 5 scoreless innings, started the rally with a leadoff walk and Taylor Schmidt followed with a bunt single. With one out, the Wolves took the lead on an RBI fielders choice bunt from Meg Ryan. Andie Vandertie had an RBI and Tanika Jorgenson added a 2-run single in the inning. Jorgenson pitched 3 innings for the win while Meg Ryan and Kathy Bluett had 2 hits for Algoma.
