YMCA Acquires Former West Side Daycare Center

The Door County YMCA’s recent acquisition of the former Sneakers & Boots daycare facility in Sturgeon Bay’s industrial park was made possible through the efforts of Door County businessman Bob Papke. Not only did Papke facilitate the acquisition, but his donation, said to be $100,000, was a key factor in completing the purchase. Papke was a partner in the construction of the facility, but sold his controlling interest in 2005. Tom Beerntsen, CEO of the Door County YMCA, expressed gratitude for the donation which allow the YMCA to continue serving & strengthening its outreach in the community well into the future at the new location. An open house at the facility is planned for later this spring.
