WDOR AM 910 is celebrating it’s 60th birthday! The station which began broadcasting in September of 1951, continues to operate from it’s original location at the corner of 15th Avenue & Utah Street in Sturgeon Bay. In April of that year, a group of individuals celebrated the birth of a new radio enterprise on a cold, wet & blustery day, with a ground breaking ceremony. Ed & Dolores Allen would tend to the day to day operation, with the help of family members & a few employees. Ed & Dolores & the other original owners of WDOR are gone now, but their mission to provide local programming based on information & wholesome entertainment continues to this day. Another important milestone for WDOR’s sister station, WDOR FM, is only a few months away. The FM station turns 45 in December.
