Washington Island Sea Perch Team Going International

Saturday was this year’s regional Sea Perch competition at Ashwaubenon High School, where area elementary and middle school teams compete using underwater robotics. Washington Island’s “Fast & Furious” team came in 2nd place overall which means they will be heading to the international Sea Perch competition at the University of Maryland this spring. This year’s regional competition included teams from Sturgeon Bay’s Sunrise Elementary, and from the Washington Island school. This is the 3rd year in a row that a Washington Island team is going to the international competition. The island team is led by teacher Miranda Dahlke. The Door County Maritime Museum brings this Sea Perch educational program to Door County schools to help boost interest in “STEAM” education and maritime engineering.
