The Washington Island Music Festival kicks off it’s 20th season Monday night at the Trueblood Performing Arts Center, where all major concerts will be performed in 2011. Stephan Colburn, artistic director & former principal oboe player for the Milwaukee Symphony, will lead the programs featuring chamber music performed by nationally known musicians. The opening concert at 7pm Monday evening features selections from Mozart, Ference Farkas, Daniel Baldwin, & Fibich. The audience can meet & greet the musicians at a free reception after the concert. A pre-concert talk, followed by time for questions will be conducted at 6:30PM by Samantha George, violinist & associate professor of music at Lawrence University. Other major concerts will be held on August 4th, 7th, & 12th. Adult admission is $15 for each concert, students pay $6, & those 12 years & younger are admitted free of charge. The Washington Island Art & Nature Center is the festival sponsor.
