As far as the contractor is concerned, the new Walmart Supercenter in Sturgeon Bay is ahead of schedule. That does not necessarily mean that the 120,000 square foot retail outlet will be operating before the projected April opening, but it is a reflection of the progress made to date on the construction project for the facility located behind the current Walmart store off of Egg Harbor Road. Speaking of that building, the development agreement between the City of Sturgeon Bay & Walmart requires the retailer to tear down the current store building within 45 days of the receipt of a permit to operate the new facility. The completion of road improvements near the new store earlier this year means that motorists should have adjusted to the changes, including stop lights, by the time the store is open for business.
