Vehicle Stolen From Garage Near Algoma

The Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an apparent vehicle theft reported early Sunday morning. At 5:46 Sunday morning, the report of a burglary to a garage & the theft of a vehicle was reported on County S, near Willow Road in the Town of Ahnapee. Sheriff’s deputies determined that a side door on the garage had been forced open & the vehicle was then taken. Deputies found the vehicle later Sunday morning in the Village of Casco, undamaged. In a related incident before the burglary, a vehicle was found in a ditch nearby the residence where the burglary occurred. The driver of that vehicle has become a person of interest in the burglary. The incident is not believed to be random, or part of a chain of burglaries, it is beleived to be an act of opportunity. The Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department reminds vehicle owners to always remove their keys from their vehicles, even when they are locked inside of a building or garage. The incident remains under investigation.
