A 2003 utility vehicle was destroyed in a fire Sunday evening on Emerald Road, in the Town of Nasewaupee. The fire in the one-ton General Motors vehicle was called in at 7:49PM. Southern Door Fire Chief Chuck Cihlar says six units & fifteen firefighters responded & found the vehicle’s cab & front end fully engulfed in flames. The owner said he had just gassed up & was about a mile from home when he noticed something was wrong in the front end of the truck. Cihlar says about half a tanker truck of water was used to put out the blaze. A Door County Sheriff’s Department deputy & Southern Door firemen shared traffic control duties. There were no injuries. Fire crews cleared the scene about an hour & a half after the call came in. The vehicle was removed by Door County Automotive.
