Action on changing signal timing at the intersection of Maple Street & Madison Avenue on Sturgeon Bay’s west side has been put on the back burner for the time being. Some have suggested that changing the signal timing would provide better traffic flow, but the parking & traffic committee last week decided to leave things as they are. City Engineer Tony Depies reported that the traffic signal lights at the intersection are old & have limitations, but will be updated in future developments. Depies noted that a timing study was done in the past, but the intersection has changed & a new study is needed. He suggested using a flashing red or yellow light after 8PM or later. When Captain Dan Brinkman said the police department had no data regarding the traffic lights that suggested there was a problem, the committee opted for the status quo & took no action.
