Thousands Left Without Power After Wednesday Night Storm

Thousands of customers of Wisconsin Public Service Corporation in Door County were without electrical service overnight after a storm, packing high winds, heavy rain and hail, blew across northern sections of the peninsula. Numerous trees and power lines were reported down and WPS crews worked into the early morning hours Thursday to bring customers back on line. In one case, a resident said the lights went out at about 10PM Wednesday and didn’t return until 5AM Thursday. And, in keeping with the recent period of wet weather, from one to three inches of rain fell on northern door locations during the storm.
