Sturgeon Bay West Side Waterfront Development

A plan to bring about the development of a segment of Sturgeon Bay’s West side waterfront into a destination marketplace was approved during the special session of the city council Tuesday evening. The plan developed by the consulting firm of Vandewalle & Associates calls for the creation of a four season market, the use of the Door County Cooperative granary as a waterfront icon with a walkway leading to a special hotel featuring 60 to 100 rooms, & the development of workforce housing. Mayor Thad Birmingham noted that the council action keeps the process moving along, but does not bind the city to any future development…[audio:|titles=SB Mayor Thad Birmingham]
During a recent presentation on the development plan, Vandewalle indicated that there already was some interest in elements of the plan.
