Sturgeon Bay to Select on New Superintendent Soon

After two days of interviews, the Sturgeon Bay Board of Education is not ready to select the school district’s next superintendent. On Monday & Tuesday, the board met with the top two candidates, Dan Tjernagel, a Principal at Ripon High School & Doctor Dean Hess, a Principal with the Wausau School District. We’re told the school board was impressed by both men. To gather a little more information, board-members are expected to travel to the two school districts on Friday to do a little research. Then, on Monday, the board will meet to determine who they favor for superintendent. On Wednesday, during its regular meeting, the Sturgeon Bay School Board could put its official stamp of approval on their decision. Current Superintendent Joe Stutting will start his new job in July. Stutting, who has been in Sturgeon Bay for eight years, has taken a Superintendent’s position with the North Scott School District in Eldredge, Iowa.
