The City of Sturgeon Bay is moving forward with changes to its garbage & recycling program. The city council Tuesday evening approved the purchase of two new garbage trucks at a cost of $403,544. The automated refuse trucks will be purchased from R-Now of West Allis with funds included in the 2012 budget. The vehicles will be used to pick up new replacement refuse & recycling containers. About $425,000 will be invested in the 96 gallon “Toter” garbage & recycling containers that will be distributed to residents. The council was told that the changes in the city’s refuse & recycling program could be implemented sometime around July & August.
