Sturgeon Bay Pickleball Courts Celebrated with Ribbon-Cutting

The pickleball courts in Sturgeon Bay’s Sunset Park received a long anticipated upgrading recently with a new court surface, wind screens, and court nets. Tuesday morning there was a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate this facility improvement for the area’s fastest growing sport. Local ambassodor for the USA Pickleball Association Jay Renstrom opened the ceremony describing the court’s importance…..

He then went on to offer many thanks for all the local groups and individuals responsible for the recent improvements, and his first thanks went out to the Door County Pickleball Club….

It was a beautiful sunny and unseasonably warm October morning, perfect weather for the ceremony and for the many pickleball enthusiasts who were playing before and after the ceremony. Mayor Dave Ward also spoke, and he made mention of everyone being blessed by the perfect weather as he offered thanks for all of Renstrom’s hard work…….

Mayor Ward then used the “big scissors” to cut the ribbon before all the pickleball players posed for a celebratory photograph. Immediately following the group photo, the courts filled up with players at the pickleball action quickly resumed. Those who weren’t actively playing stood to the side enjoying the celebratory cake while discussing the impressive new facilities.
