WDOR News has learned about a traffic accident that took the life of a former Sturgeon Bay resident in Kentucky Wednesday. Erick Matthew Kettering, the son of Jack & Janelle Kettering of Sturgeon Bay, was 23 years old. A 2009 graduate of Sturgeon Bay High School, he enlisted in the US Army, serving from 2009 to 2013, including service in Afghanistan. During his time with the first infantry division, “The Big Red One”, Kettering Received several awards. After his tour in Afghanistan, he was stationed at Fort Know, Kentucky where he was discharged. Kettering was in the process of continuing his education in Louisville at the time of the accident.
