The City of Sturgeon Bay will formally recognize its recent designation as a Coast Guard City with a special celebration Saturday at Sawyer Park, on the city’s west side. The entire community is invited to join in the celebration beginning at 10:30AM. The festivities kick off with patriotic music provided by the Peninsula Symphonic Band. At 11AM, Rear Admiral Fred Midgette, Senior Commander for all Coast Guard operations throughout the Great Lakes & the Saint Lawrence Seaway, will preside at the proclamation ceremony. One of the dignitaries expected to participate in the ceremony is Mayor Thad Birmingham. A community picnic hosted by the Sturgeon Bay Fire Department & volunteers from Bay View Lutheran Church will immediately follow the Coast Guard City ceremony.
