Sturgeon Bay Alleys

If the Sturgeon Bay city council agrees with the idea, five downtown alleys will no longer be set up for one way traffic. The parking & traffic committee is recommending the changeover in light of recent decisions to eliminate one way traffic downtown. During the committee meeting in January, city engineer Tony Depies noted that the existing alley signage was not adequate to enforce one way traffic &, now that 3rd Avenue has become a two way street, traffic in the alleys has been reduced. The action covers alleys between 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 8th & 9th Avenue, from Michigan to Jefferson Street, & between Quincy Street & south 8th Avenue from Memorial Drive to the intersection of the alley between south 3rd & south 4th Avenue. All signage will be removed as well. The Sturgeon Bay common council will take up the matter at its meeting Tuesday evening.
