Structure Fire on Peterson Road

A fire of undetermined origin damaged the Roger Carmody home at 3993 Peterson Road early Wednesday morning. The Sturgeon Bay Fire Department was paged out at 3:33AM & sent 8 units & 24 firefighters to the home in the town of Sevastopol. The first units on the scene found smoke & fire coming out of the kitchen window. Fire crews attacked the blaze & had it quickly under control, using only about 100 gallons of water to douse the flames. There was extensive damage to the kitchen area & smoke throughout the home. No injuries were reported. Though the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time, the flash point appears to be between a dishwasher & a cabinet. Carmody said he was awakened by his smoke detector & exited the home through a bedroom window. He then called 911. Sturgeon Bay firefighters returned to the station at 7AM.
