The Door County Strivers gymnastics team competed with 11 other teams at the YMCA State Gymnastics Championships over the weekend in Marinette, & won five individual state titles, one team title, and one second place team finish.
The Excel Silver team took first place in team competition scoring 110.50 points. Lauren Gaida earned 1st place finishes in floor exercise(9.75) & all around(37.80) for the 12 and over group, as well as 2nd on vault(9.5) & beam(9.3). Delaney Allen took 1st in uneven bars(9.2) & floor exercise(9.5) for the 11 & under group as well as a 7th place finish on beam(9.1) & 9th overall(36.1). Evelyn Kelsey earned a 2nd place finish on vault(9.3) & a 3rd place finish in the all around(36.70). Greta Virgin finished 8th in beam(9.0).
The Strivers Platinum team, competing with just 3 members, took 2nd place in team competition scoring 101.7 points. Amelia Zoschke took first place in the floor exercise(9.35) and took 2nd in the all around(34.775), as well as 3rd on bars(8.275), and 4th on beam(8.60). Anna Gallardo-Ibara took 3rd in floor exercise(9.175), Shaylyn Asher won 4th on beam(8.60)
The Strivers Level 6 team finished 7th in team competition scoring 104.4 points. Portia Hah took 3rd on bars(8.275), 9th on beam(8.95), & 10th all around(34.275). Sophia Sternard finished 6th all around(35.00), & 9th on vault(8.80), beam(9.225), & bars(7.925). Amira Anschutz placed 5th on beam(9.35), 7th on vault(8.9), 12th on floor(9.075), & 11th all around(34.675).
