Steve Leonard Leaving the Ridges Sanctuary

The Ridges Sanctuary Executive Director Steve Leonard will be leaving the sanctuary in August after serving in that position for 14 years. He is leaving to pursue a master’s degree and career in public health focusing on global environmental health. Leonard feels this is the right time to pursue his interest in the public health field, and for the Ridges to take the next steps in land protection, environmental education, and research. During this 14 years as Executive Director Leonard managed the construction and opening of the Cook-Albert Fuller Nature Center in Baileys Harbor, the completion of their 1/3 mile A.D.A. accessible boardwalk, the expansion of education programs, the starting of a long term research project on native orchid populations, and securing the protection of an additional 200 acres of land. The Ridges Sanctuary’s Board of Directors have formed a search committee which has begun the recruiting for a new Executive Director. For more information on this position, you can look online at their website which is “ridgessanctuary.org”, and then just search “employment”.
