The Wisconsin Rural Schools Alliance has honored Jessica Meacham, a first grade teacher at Southern Door school, as its Rural Teacher of the Year. The non-profit organization handed out the award at its Rural Schools Conference on November 14th. Meacham, who has been at Southern Door for ten years, was recognized for her positive impact on students, her innovative & creative instructional techniques, her collaborative efforts with fellow educators, & her leadership in the school district & the community. Meacham will now represent Wisconsin as a semi-finalist in the 2014 National Rural Teacher of the Year program. The Wisconsin Rural Schools Alliance was formed to help rural schools address the unique issues that affect rural schools as they seek to achieve the highest quality education for every student.
