The Southern Door board of education made some progress in the search for a new superintendent during a closed door meeting Tuesday evening. A total of 21 applications were received from candidates wishing to replace Joe Innis as district administrator. Innis, who has been superintendent for 22 years, will retire at the end of the year. During the meeting Tuesday evening, the school board decided which candidates would be interviewed, came up with a list of questions to ask, & settled on the membership of a committee that will be involved in the interviews. That committee will be made up of board members, citizens & staff. In addition, November 8th & 9th was set aside for interviews. Louis Birchbauer of the Wisconsin Association of School Boards is working with the school board while the search for a new superintendent is ongoing. The board also filled two coaching positions. Cody Uecker will be the freshman boys basketball coach & Penny Wautier will coach junior varsity girls basketball.
